Formula 1 management has found a replacement for the Chinese Grand Prix.


The stage in Shanghai in 2023 will almost certainly not take place due to the policy of zero tolerance for covid by the authorities of the country. And in Formula 1 they are simply not ready to follow all the current restrictions. For example, team members who contract the coronavirus would have to spend several days in isolation centers.


In this regard, it was not entirely clear whether Formula 1 would look for a replacement for the Chinese Grand Prix or simply reduce the calendar to 23 races.


As a result, F-1 will hold the Portuguese Grand Prix as a replacement. The race in Portimao will take the slot of the stage in Shanghai and will take place on 16 April.


Previously, the Portuguese Grand Prix has already been held in Portimao in 2020 and 2021.
