18-year-old Italian Janik Siner secured second victory in Group B of the Tennis ATP Next Generation in Milan after beating Swede Michael Hummer 4-0, 4-2, 4-1. in the semifinals of the tournament, though he entered it with a wild card.
This is one of the most convincing victories in the short history of this tournament, with a local representative giving only three games predicted by questions for football tipsters to his opponent. The meeting ended in 56 minutes and is the second fastest in history after Alex de Minor`s success over Liam Caruana last year. The teenager started the year as number 551 in the ATP rankings, but is currently the youngest in the top 100. With his participation in the Antwerp tournament, he reached the semifinals in the ATP for the first time overall, which was followed by participation inMasters 1000.
In the first set he lost only four points and took it in 13 minutes. A little more trouble came to him in the second, but he found control of his forehand, then made his victory even more routine in the third.
In the other group meeting, Francis Tiafo (USA) achieved the first victory, defeating Hugo Humber (France) by 4:2, 4:3 (7:5), 3:4 (4:7), 4:1. Both Tiafo and Hummer have one win each and in the next round in direct clash will determine who will go on to the semifinals.
